Why do you get red marks from your bra?
A bra carries weight, and that weight has to rest somewhere. As long as the support is spread over a wide area, you barely notice it. When that support comes together on a few centimetres of fabric or on a metal underwire, the skin gets pressed in right there, and by the end of the day you see a red line. Marks aren't a matter of sensitive skin, then, but of how the pressure is distributed.
The four causes we see most often:
- A narrow band. The narrower the band, the higher the pressure per centimetre. The same support spread over a wide band feels considerably lighter and leaves no groove.

How do you prevent marks from your bra?
1. Start with the size. The band should sit horizontally around your body and shouldn't ride up when you lift your arms. You should be able to slide two fingers under it, no more and no less. Measure your underbust and your bust in centimeters and have the size calculated with the size guide with measuring instructions: two measurements, about two minutes of work. Measuring is knowing, and most marking complaints disappear once the band size is right.
2. Choose width over tightness. Don't go a size smaller for more support, but choose a bra that draws its support from a wider area. A wide band spreads the same weight over more skin, so the pressure per centimeter drops and nothing cuts in.
3. Remove the hard pressure point. Without an underwire, there's no metal wire that can press into your skin along a single line. The support then comes from the fabric, the shaped cups and the band together, so it's distributed rather than concentrated.
